| Double posting is baaaaad.
Furuba, on the other hand, is gooood. It was my very first manga/anime ^^ and thus holds a special place in my heart.
I am very much a Kyon fangirl. He is quite awesome, and I love re-reading the series for his character development. *nodnod* |

Re: FRUITS BASKETS any furuba? By Madam Madhatter. 14/02/09, 02:42 am |
| The manga is EPICLY better than the anime! Though the anime is funny and good untill the last 3 eps. (gurrrr to them making a ending out of an important "beginning" in the manga) 1)whos your fav character? Kyo But Hatsuharu and Momiji are are super close 2nd.
2)whos your fav character background story? Kyo -because though you don't find out most of it untill the end, parts of it are mentioned very earily on. We just think it's talking about something eles that is happening at the time. This is what makes it so much fun to re-read. Momiji's story is uber sad.
3)fav scene? The ending is SoooOOOOooo cute, sweet, and epic. But the black Hatsuharu scenes at the start of the 3rd and 8th book are funny. OooH!!! The story of how Tohrus Parents meet was sooo cute, and sad!!! -Basicly the entire series. 4)who is your zodiac Im the year of Rin.
5)whatever else you wish to chip in ^_^ I have ALL the books including the Year of the Cat Fan club book. It was also the first manga I ever read and the first anime I hunted down rather than just watching what was on T.V. |

| Yay, you made a Furuba thread! Goddamn I love this manga. #1 all-time favourite forever. 8DD Going along with what everyone else has already said, the manga is far superior to the anime, but the anime is still a really good watch, it just doesn't delve as deep into the dark stuff and chooses instead to rely more on humour and fluff. (Which I don't have a problem with). Each time I re-read it, I seem to become attached to a different character than last time...Initially I liked Yuki, then Rin, then Hattori, then Akito...XDD But my favourite is probably Hatsuharu closely followed by Kyo. I used to be a total TohruxYuki fan, but its not until later in the manga that Kyo's story is revealed, and then I was all...Awwwwwww he and Tohru should totally be together. <333 That and I enjoy YukixMachi, despite the fact that nobody else seems to like her. I think she's cool. I can relate to her a lot. Though I don't think I'm that much of a spaz lol.
Favourite background story...Shigure and Akito's probably. It's all very dark and intense. And slightly estranged. xD I haven't read it in too long to recall a favourite scene..
Oh, and I'm Year of the Horse. |

Me too~ Especially the Akito part. I found that once I re-read the series, EVERYTHING that Akito did made sense and I really found myself empathising with *COUGH*her*COUGH*.
One of the biggest reasons I love this manga is because of all the detail and thought that's gone into it. It deals with serious issues in a (what I think) good way and is epic and awesome [insert-more-praise-here] |

Re: FRUITS BASKETS any furuba? By Pyro. 15/02/09, 02:55 pm |
| WHEE~ FURUBA~
1) Who's your favourite character?
Katsuya Honda, hands-down. I loved his mannerisms, and I cried ever time he showed up. Heehee, he did so much for Tohru's mum, and it was so great to see them reunite after she died. <3) (Followed by Ayame, then Kyo. Kyooo~)
2) Who's your favourite character background story?
Hatori's backstory was adorable, but I'm afraid that the *true* story of the Zodiac was the best backstory of the entire thing, especially how it explained the real reasons why the cat was ostracized... I cried when I read it. Also Tohru's mother's backstory. That was sad. ;_;
3) Favourite scene?
When we found out what Tohru's mother really meant by 'I'll never forgive you'. I bawled through it... Actually, every scene with Tohru's parents was great-great-great. They're so underappreciated, for such great characters. <3
4) Who is your Zodiac?
I'm year of the dog, so thus, a Shigure girl! I act a lot like him sometimes, being a pervy writer and all, plus I hate work. I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up like him when I'm older... Heehee. <3
5) Whatever else you wish to chip in...
OH GAWD KATSUYA I LOVE HIM SO BAD WHY DOES NO ONE ELSE LIKE HIM WAAA. Dx |

It goes into a lot more depth with characters than the majority of most manga and anime. It's amazing to think she fitted so many back-stories into twenty-three volumes, where most other series' only focus on around 5-10 characters max. And they aren't just quick, surface skimming stories either. You get to know every member of the Zodiac and some. I'm quite fond of the ArisaxKureno story too, it's really sweet. n_n @Pyro: So, how many times did this series make you cry like a little girl? =P |

THIS.
And also the bit where 'God' is saying goodbye to Yuki. I don't even like Yuki and I was IN TEARS 'cause it was so sad and so wonderful and ALL OF THAT. Actually, I can't read chapter 130 without bursting into tears. WHY. WHY IS IT SO SAD AND WONDERFUL. ;_________; |

| Favorite character- Machi, she just seems like a clumsy airhead ^_^ plus the Yuki x Machi relationship seems to be really adorable, no ?
Favorite Character background story < tries to think- has a mental mind/memory block > ahhh. Hatori ? The story about the true meaning of spring ?
Favorite scene anything with Ayame being whack/ total weirdo- & provoking Yuk-Yuk
Zodiac BORN UNDER THE YEAR OF THE POLAR BEAR
More to add ?
Never really liked Kyo or Shigure that much.. <sighs >.. It was a deep emotional story, heaps of memories. |

| Lol.
1] I'm a Kyo fan. Love his temper, orange hair and awkwardness around Tohru. @Cloud Strife - Machi isn't the airhead (that's Tohru), she's the quiet one who keeps going wacko in the room Oiih and HARU! Love him -glompage-
2] Hatori's story is deffo my favourite..-sniffs- I might've gotten a bit teary..
3] I love how Shigure is always putting off his editor! ..And of course..Kyo scenes. Proof of Hatsuharu's hair colour

Still like Machi the best though.. ^^

Re: FRUITS BASKETS any furuba? By Squishy blob. 23/04/09, 05:58 am |
| MY first anime/manga. I heard people ranting about it on another forum (years ago) so I watched it.
1) Favourite characters- Machi and Hatori.
2)Fave story- I was never a fan of the overused tragic backstory theme, but my favourites would Machi and Yuki.
3) Favourite scene? Too many.
4) Dog, like Shigure! I kinda have his work avoidance policies...
I see where people are coming from when they say they don't like Fruits Basket- the emotion and cliched-ness can be really off-putting for action-lovers, but the story as a whole is so great. |
