Actually you might not realise it now but you can easily spend over $100 on a cosplay. Mostly when you dont have time to shop around cos of work commitments etc.

When my sister did her Yuki outfit she bought 2.5 metres of fabric $12 per metre just to make the jacket. $2 per rose button...there was like 4 of them. Ribbons $3-$5, $10 stockings, $10 spray paint, $15 on beads, fabric paint $6 and $20 on skirt...and she probably would have spent more if she had more time to make it.
So yeh, compared to d gray-man the detailing of that costume was substantially lower.
D gray-man has the embross, jewels and crystals, leather strip needed to attach to the boots, materials for timcanpy, stuffing, fabric paint, wig, white gloves etc..Lets just put it that theres a lot to be spent.
But in saying that, guess it depends on the individual though. If you're fussy about the details it'll cost you.

D.gray man cosplays, though detailed, are fairly easy to construct...they just take heaps of time and patience.
