In the final volume of the manga, Rosette has just had her soul pulled back into her body when Chrno decides to go stop Aion once and for all. As they walk, he tells Rosette to hold his hand so that he can fly with her to the location of the final battle. Rosette does as Chrno asks, but he uses his freezing power to halt her movement, leaving her only able to talk. She yells at him and tells him to let her free, as she never wants to lose him again.
Chrno refuses to do so, and shakes his head sadly, causing Rosette to go into another yelling fit at him, asking him if he'll ever return to her after the battle, knowing that he very well may die. Chrno replies to her that he'll definitely be back, as she is his only home to return to, and then leaves.
The manga cuts short here, and goes to Azmaria speaking about how her life has gone, revealing that Azmaria was the one telling the story the entire time. She comments that Rosette died in 1932, with a smile on her face. It shows Azmaria is only a video being shown to Satella, who is still 19, and living in 1999, due to the freezing spell placed on her in her fight against her sister on Eden.
We then see her at the graveyard where Rosette was buried, talking to Azmaria's grandson. He comments that the location of her grave was never made public. However, a bunch of flowers from an unknown donator are resting on the grave. Azmaria's grandson comments that it has happened every year in his memory, and no-one knows who they belong to. Satella smiles, and we see a flashback to 1932- on the day of Rosette's death.
We see Rosette and Remington in a church, and Remington exits without a word. Suddenly, Rosette seizes up, and begins to die. On her final breaths, the doors of the church burst open, revealing Chrno, missing an arm, an eye- his horns (
) but still smiling. He and Rosette sprint to each other, and his promise and implication is made true- Rosette is his home. Rosette dies in his arms.
