[HEY LOOK PIX] Help with my boots?

Okay, so, I have this pair of boots, and they're quite the spiffy pair of boots. All pretty much brand new and shiny (minus the shine)

My problem is, they have those massive flames up the sides of them :< not cool. I want them to be all black!

So, I'm asking you here folk, what can I do?
I know I could possibly spraypaint them, but I'm concerned about possible adverse effects.

(I'm not really into making boot covers, seeing as I don't want the orange at all)

Any help you guys can offer me?

Spotlight sell shoe dye. It comes in a little pot with a brush handle, application is super easy, and it looks great. I forget the brand, but the staff should know what you mean :) I've used the white stuff to cover purple shoes once - that took like a million coats, but it doesn't seem to flake off or anything if it's too thick. And anyway, it's black, so you're good :3
