Making a straight wig wavy
Post By superjumper. 10/04/12, 10:23 am

Hello!
Any ideas on how to make a straight wig wavy?
The wig I own is 28 inches, and has heat resistance up to 130 degrees C, according to the seller.
I own it for my Marceline cosplay, but it just occured to me that it'd look better for the character if it wasn't so straight.
Here's the wig, and a photo of the character:
Spoiler:
Also yes i know i need to change the parting on the wig, haha.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!

Firstly, Holy sugar honey iced tea you're gorgeous

Secondly, to get it wavy I'd just say to curl it then just play it with until it becomes wavy. Generally I just use sponge curlers and wrap the fibers around them and pin them to the wig, then douse them in hairspray. Some people also do that but pour hot water over it to heat the fibers to set them around the curlers making them curly.

If you dont have sponge curlers you can be creative and find something else to try use, like coke cans, or maybe something with a handle like a broom.

I don't think that made much sense orz;; maybe try googling a curling tutorial or something c:

for a Marceline cosplay I think you'd want more volume rather than curls.

I would brush Gatsby up through near the roots, maybe curl a bit near the roots and maybe add extensions for thickness.

Marceline is my favourite character in Adventure Time! Very Happy

I hope it goes well! and I agree with Seakittens, gorgeous photo ^^

A) Oh gosh thank you. XD

B) both of your ideas sound good...I'll probably use a combination of them both. Maybe extra volume at the roots, and if i give it a bit of a wave it might give it a bit more volume the whole way through? Cause it's kinda flat as a pancake all through the back, it's that straight.

^ Very welcome!

I'd be curious to know how it turns out :)

EDIT: I just realised you're the Roxas from the Orgy 13 at Hamilton Geddon. I thought your wig looked amazing. Really well done.

It is quite a tough thing to make a straight wig wavy, you must be very carefully. I used to make my straight wigs wavy which was bought on http://www.hairwigsall.com/categories/STYLE/Straight-Wigs/ , and it was not damaged. Hope you will have the same good luck.
