My DS Lite's top screen has this spot...

So I recently bought a DS Lite through sella about a week or two ago.

Hope someone can help with this problem...
I gave my DS screens a gentle wipe earlier, and the top screen now has this black spot in the centre when it's off. The area expands when I apply a little pressure to it, and then shrinks again when I stop pressing it.

When I'm running a game (Pokemon Pearl), it displays fine but if I apply light pressure again to the spot it expands and the display goes funny like when you press on an LCD screen.

I left it alone for a while and it seems to have disappeared. I think it looks like it's stuck itself to the casing or something when I cleaned the screen, and now it's unstuck itself.

I've checked with a friend's DS and it doesn't do this, her top screen is nice and solid like the touch screen.
Could anyone tell me what's up? And if this is normal? Should I email the seller and get a replacement (it's under warranty)? Please help! D:

I don't know if this happens to DS screen but like..
with a TV.. if you leave it on for ages, the heat kinda melts the screen and it sinks in. I don't know if it's a danger if it happens to a DS but it definetely sounds annoying..

You should probably get it replaced .-.

I would get it replaced for the sake of it. Who knows what kind of damage could result from it in the future? I've had mine for 3 years and nothing like that has happened, and I've dropped mine on concrete... many times.

Thank god i have an old silver brick DS XD... hasnt failed me yet (except for the stylus i lost on the 3rd day i used it)

^Yeah, the old original ones are so sturdy =D!

My DS Lite has a corner coming off, a non-functioning left trigger, a line of dead pixels on the top screen, and is held together by duct tape, but the top screen doesn't make a dark spot when I press on it, just a tiny wave of discolouration, so I say definitely get a new one if you have the chance.

'Cept for someone I know whose brick!DS is held together with fishing line and tape. Then they get a 3DS. Waiting for them to get all Upset when they break it.

Sturdy...My old school DS and XOrengenOX's are still living. Not that their in the best of conditions 8D;

But I'd get it replaced, just incase the damage gets worse. We don't want that now do we D8

I agree regard to getting it replaced if you can. If you don't want to be a pain, at least note the seller so you have a record that this has happened so if anything goes wrong later they can't claim that it was a new problem on the day it flips over.

Then again, I'd aim at getting it replaced now.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've sent an email to the seller explaining the problem and asking if it was common, and if it can be fixed or if a replace should be sought after. Very Happy

Now all I need to wait on is a reply! I hope things turn out well.

Sooo I got a reply back today and this is what they said after I described my problem and asked when they could do.

There is only usually one reason why that spot you are refering to in the LCD is there and why that happens. At any stage has there been any excessive force to the screen? as it sounds like the screen has a crack in it somewhere which in-turn has leaked out liquid crystal.

If you return to us, we can inform our supplier and send to the maufacture as it is covered under warranty. The only thing is if the manufacture believes the reason behind the spot could only have been caused by excessive force to screen there may be a charge to repair.

So I plan to attach some photos of what the problem looks like and answer that I have been treating my DS gently (which I have) and excessive force was not applied at any time.

I'm not sure if they mean by sending it back to the manufacturer, I get my original DS fixed or if I get a new one/replacement?

^ they will fix it for you..if it is still under warranty, but in my personal experience with this type of thing...you end up waiting for like 1-3 months for it to be sent back to you ...only for the same thing to happen a year or so later >.<

- although in saying that...my ordeal was not over a NDS >.< (good o'l Silver Brick NDS Very Happy
