Consoles V.S Emulators By mastereable. 04/03/11, 06:08 am |
| So that's the topic, which do you perfer and why? For me I've always been a console person. I mean, I've had both, just emulators are never as much fun in my opinion. there's something more magical about playing games on a console. Oh and list what consoles you have if you want. I have a ps1, used to have a ps2 till it broke, used to have a gba micro, and now have a nintendo ds lite. thinking of getting a wii or a N64 |

| I prefer consoles. I have a 360, Wii and DS Lite and I really like the portability + easy multiplayer function of having the DS console =D (I used to play by emulator when I didn't have one). Just being able to take my games anywhere- public transport, when bored, friends' houses- is something I enjoy. Though emulators are for consoles you don't want to buy/can't own so they are useful.
However with emulators and stuff I guess you don't have to worry about technological failure as much- you can just back up your files/etc. all the time (but if your comsputer fails, well...). My 360 got the red ring of death a few years back, my second-hand DS's corner with the light came off and is now held in place with clear duct tape and I worry about bottles of drink leaking in my bag and destroying game cards and stuff D=. |

| Yea those are some pretty good reasons in suppourt of emulators, though I guess they really suck in your case huh? But yea I agree about the portability of the DS, that why I love it so much. And i reccon Nintendo make some of the best games, or feature them anyway. I mean you've got mario, pokemon, donkey Kong, and of course the updated ports of some classic final fantasy games. Nintendo also have a lot more anime related games too |

| I like consoles better, but I have an R4 card because DS games are just too expensive or havent been released here yet. |

| Emulators were always something I used when I was young and couldn't afford games. I still use emulators now only they're mostly on my psp and really only have them for nostalgia sake. I've never really thought of emulators as something I'd use more than a console. |

| I have two Amigas in the shed, waiting patiently for me to fix one and learn how to use the other one. (More modern then the one I use to have.) Anyone have a spare fast memory chip? Probably never have the time. And the disks are probably mostly beyond their life expectancy. Luckly with Amiga being defunct there are slackware sites.
Emulators are good, gives you more options. But it is had to find perfect 100% compatibility. On the other hand lots of games nowadays just come out for one brand or other. So emulators win that way. But yeah, I still actually have copies of old OS's, all the way back to DOS 5. So on my desktop I actually have a multi-boot system, anytime I feel like playing old games. Not that I have the time. |

| Ahh dos. My younger brother had a windows 3 on his pc. Dad fixes them up, and he gave me the one with win me on it years ago and gave my brother the one with win 3. admitidly the me one wasn't that great at all and the only game i could play was Age of empires and my whole pc kept crashing at least once a month, while my brother got all sorts of old games. so i'd just jam on his pc XD |

| Dos was just fast. If modern computers ran on DOS they would finish be so fast it's not funny. |

| I love how under dos all hyou do to install or delete something is create or delete a directory. No extra .ddl's, registry entries, extra unwanted malware, etc., clogging up your system after you remove a program. |
