COSPLAY CAFE at Auckgeddon 2011?

Hi Guys,

While I am beginning to organize the Cosplay Cafe for Doujin Overload 2011 once again. I would like to know what people think of a Cosplay Cafe at Auckland Armageddon next year.

Do you think it will succeed? Which of the 4 days would be best? Would you be willing to help out? Would you visit? Should there be a theme? If so what theme? Etc.

I think it would be pretty expensive to set it up? Though if you got it on the weekend and your prices were better than that of the convention you'd be pretty set up X3
I'd of course be willing to help 8D

Suggestions hmmm, way more food range than doujin overload (it was nice but limited) and maybe you could offer cold drinks in a fair range too like apple juice and stuff because that would sell pretty well I think X3

I think it would be hard to keep up with the demand of customers and would probably need tighter/more security. :O It's a biggggg project to take on though.

Unlike at Overload, there's going to be a lot of immature people who only go to mess up our fun. A theme would be great too.

Maybe after Auckgeddon one day? You know, not during the event. So less idiots are invited.

But if it does go ahead, I'd ttly love to be a waiter. XD

I would LOVE for this to happen! like Fleyer said it would be nice to maybe have a bit moar range of food and drinks?
As for the buzzkillers i wouldnt mind being a bouncer and scaring them off (since i might do a yankii style school uniform... i just need a kendo sword...) thats if you need them.

hurrr.... theme... neko ears? ? seifuku? ? vocaloid? ? idklol~

I didn't go to DO last year so I missed out on it and have never been to one. sad

I think Comp day would be a good day as many cosplayers like myself will be exhausted from working on their comp cosplays all night and could really use a break with some good coffee and service! nodnod

As for themes ... hmm ... Ouran High Host Club?

Id say go for it, but as it has been mentioned, it may compromise your sanity, and that of your helpers.
You do remember what the floor was like during geddon right? If even 0.1% of those numbers come through the cafes doors so to speak, the numbers will not be small.

This will require a LOT of planning. If you went the whole cafe route, you will need quite a bit of space for tables and chairs for people to sit, and then of course you are looking at location, setup, food, competition with the generic food court.

Speak to Bill/Angela/[cant spell her name who judges and is impressive] and see what they say...

As cool as it would be, it would be so stressful. You would have to make/buy in so much food that you would need a heap of money coming up to it. The food areas are packed all day, every day. I wonder about their hygiene regulations there as well, if they will actually allow you to bring anything in from a non-commercial kitchen. Would you be running it as a stall? I can't see the centre letting you in the actual food areas, they make way too much money off that.

If you're confident, you may as well talk to Bill and co. about it. It will definitely go down well and you will get a TON of people, but the set up costs and the stress level are going to be crazy.

Chyeah, as almost everyone has mentioned it'd mean more stress and work for such a project but I think it'd be a great idea :`3 especially since Geddon is a way bigger event and that means waaaaay more demand from customers. Also the whole making and buying of the food/drinks, sounds expensive 8`l to arrange; although I daresay they'd be more attractive than the food provided there~ especially if you factor in the whole.. novelty I guess, of it being a cosplay cafe.

A theme would be cute~ animals? (like bunnies, cats, blehbleh) 'cause the whole maid/butler is kinda a given. Or some fandom that is easily recognised.
I reckon comp day would be nice but I guess whatever day has the least events for cosplayers? = more time for cosplayers to help/attend.
