So... I'm looking to make a corset (because I can lol) I've found a pattern (Simplicity 5726 -after a lot of looking >_<;)

Before I start I was wondering about a few things:

-is there a 'best' kind of fabric to use? Heavy/med/light wight?

-cost of boning, can I get away with something cheaper or do I need to spend a bit more for quality?

-any tips for sewing Corsets? (I've sewn plastic boning before so I've got a bit of experience in that area ^_^)

um... think that's all.

I recently ordered a bunch of silk swatches from Dharma Trading to pick which fabric I'll be using for one of my costumes next year - and this site is AWESOME! The silk swatches pack had 28 different silks in it, and cost about UD$6 with about 1.50 shipping. It arrived within a week on the slowest shipping option, and all the fabrics look to be really high quality.

I was wondering does anyone in Christchurch area know where you can buy a top hat? I'm not looking for the real deal, rather a cheap fabric one (But not the glittery ones you get from the supermarket which are as uncomfortable as hell), preferably black.

Please tell me if you know of any shops (Sorry if I've managed to post in the wrong forum again)

Will stuff it with foam or something and want to place a zip on it somewhere..

i have a fair idea on what to do but would love it if someone could give me a bit more advice on like how to sew it all together and what material would be best to use.. maybe a method if someone has done something like this before?

Thank you cosplayers of NZ !! xD

You know Misha from Pita Ten? If you watch the first episode there are various spots where they show a good view of the back and sides of her hat. If you're not sure what her hat looks like, go watch it.

So I've never made a hat before (or any cosplay for that matter ) so I have no idea how to go about it! Any ideas/tutorials/instructions?
