BECAUSE I AM THE MOOD TO FANGASM DAMMIT.

For the past six months I have been actively pursuing the paths of the comic books, which is a mission in itself considering my local library doesn't actually have most of what I want, so I'm just reading whatever I can find.

...and I've stooped to reading fanfiction. ><

Wow. Just finished Pride and Predjudice and Zombies. It's fantastic. It has all the greatness of Austen, plus gorey zombie fight scenes... Elizabeth Bennet is kick-ass.

Don't know about all you others out there, but I've noticed that there is something called "The fictional character genius syndrome". (I made that up, it's not real, don't go a-googling). Has anyone else noticed that there are characters in various facets of fiction that are just geniuses for the sake of it, and that's their main point? Okay, so its not a novel, and maybe doesnt really count as literature, I guess. They are a series of Harry Potter fanfictions. The bloody best fanfiction ever. Has anyone read them? DC vs. Marvel

So... I know that personally I love Marvel comics. The Marvel universe has X-Men, Spiderman, Fan4, Runaways... Need I go on? And then there's all sort of great crossovers, etc.
But I want to know if:
a) other people read comics that aren't manga and
b) what universe people prefer and why.

Hmm, not entirely sure this is in the right place, but does anyone know Piratica by Tanith Lee? I was rereading through all my old books, and I came across it again, it's one of my all time favorites, any love here for it? If you haven't read it, I really do recommend you do now.
It has to be the only book so far that's actually brought me to tears (though lets face it, that's not hard for me nowadays)

I plowed my way through these books. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare is about a girl called Clary who lives with her mother in New York.... until all hell breaks loose. The City of Bones is about her introduction to the hell breaking loose - a tad too expositional and one sugar honey iced tea-load SNOT of a twist. City of Ashes is about everything going to pot. City of Glass is about the final battle. Fairly predictable structure, but the characters are brilliant. There are vampires ...

Need help suggesting books to read. I'm a really fussy book reader and usually struggle to find/ get digged into a decent book. Used to waver for the Fantasy books hoping to get a another Harry Potter or a novel version of a Final Fantasy, But given up because usually just find books about dragons and strange teenaged dorks with elf ears.
